Tip: Hedge Fund Hiring to Increase in 2012
It's going to be a good year for some hedge funders. Employees are expected to bring home 15% to 20% more in total pay than last year. What's more, hedge funds with up to $2 billion in assets are planning to hire more investor relations and marketers with five to 10 years of experience in the coming year. Another position you may want to consider is a "product manager" or "product specialist." These people deal with existing clients and have experience in investor relations and project management.

Tip: CFOs Expect Hiring in the U.S. and Asia in 2012
Chief financial officers think U.S. employment will increase by 1.5% over the coming year, up from 0.9% they predicted last quarter. At that rate, national unemployment will fall to about 8% by the end of the year (it's 8.5% currently according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics). Asia will also see employment increase by about 5%, CFOs predict. That optimism doesn't apply to Europe, though: No CFOs expect employment to increase in Europe this year.

Tip: Financial Adviser Hiring to Heat Up in 2012
January has brought with it strangely warm weather and the first stage of this year's broker wars. Firms will ramp up recruiting in hopes of attracting unhappy financial advisers from other wirehouses. Many FAs will choose to skip out on their retention contracts that had been locking them into place, figuring that their new firms will pay them enough to make up for it. Expect to see a thundering herd gallop past your office, unless you choose to participate.
